Deviations from Perfect Memory in Spin Glass Temperature Cycling Experiments

چکیده

We study the deviations from perfect memory in negative temperature cycle spin glass experiments. It is known that the a.c. susceptibility after the temperature is raised back to its initial value is superimposed to the reference isothermal curve for large enough temperature jumps ∆T (perfect memory). For smaller ∆T , the deviation from this perfect memory has a striking non monotonous behavior: the ‘memory anomaly’ is negative for small ∆T ’s, becomes positive for intermediate ∆T ’s, before vanishing for still larger ∆T ’s. We show that this interesting behavior can be reproduced by simple Random Energy trap models. We discuss an alternative interpretation in terms of droplets and temperature chaos. 1 Aging , rejuvenation and memory effects in Ising and Heisenberg spin glasses

We have compared aging phenomena in the Fe0.5Mn0.5T iO3 Ising spin glass and in the CdCr1.7In0.3S4 Heisenberg-like spin glass by means of lowfrequency ac susceptibility measurements. At constant temperature, aging obeys the same ‘ωt scaling’ in both samples as in other systems. Investigating the effect of temperature variations, we find that the Ising sample exhibits rejuvenation and memory eff...

Short range ferromagnetism and spin glass state in Y0.7Ca0.3MnO3

Dynamic magnetic properties of Y0.7Ca0.3MnO3 are reported. The system appears to attain local ferromagnetic order at TSRF ≈ 70 K. Below this temperature the low field magnetization becomes history dependent, i.e. the zero field cooled (ZFC) and field cooled (FC) magnetization deviate from each other and closely logarithmic relaxation appears at our experimental time scales (0.3-104 sec). The ze...

Temperature cycles in the Heisenberg spin glass

We study numerically the nonequilibrium dynamics of the three-dimensional Heisenberg Edwards-Anderson spin glass submitted to protocols during which temperature is shifted or cycled within the spin glass phase. We show that partial rejuvenation and perfect memory effects can be numerically observed and study both effects in detail. We quantitatively characterize their dependences on parameters ...

Spin anisotropy and slow dynamics in spin glasses.

We report on an extensive study of the influence of spin anisotropy on spin glass aging dynamics. New temperature cycle experiments allow us to compare quantitatively the memory effect in four Heisenberg spin glasses with various degrees of random anisotropy and one Ising spin glass. The sharpness of the memory effect appears to decrease continuously with the spin anisotropy. Besides, the spin ...

Temperature cycling during the aging of a polymer glass

– Temperature cycling is used to study aging properties of plexiglass (PMMA) dielectric constant. If a negative temperature cycle is applied during the aging time the relaxation dynamics is just delayed for a time equal to the cycle period. In contrast this time shifting procedure cannot be applied to positive temperature cycles. The analogies and differences with similar experiments done in ot...
